The Physician Lead is responsible for the overall guidance of medical care services in a region or clinical specialty; assists the Chief Medical Officer in developing and implementing the Health Care Plan; ensure quality health care services are available; provides direct clinical services.

Responsibilities Provides the overall medical guidance to physicians and advanced practice professionals (APPs) in a designated region or clinical Must be able to develop and maintain a team atmosphere and work cooperatively with others.Serves as resource on policy and procedure to provider staff within designated regionEnsures compliance and oversees Medical Assistant proficiency review process and supervisionEnsures specific health care needs of the communities under the Physician Lead's jurisdiction are addressedProvides medical supervision of staff physicians and APPs in the designated regionEncourages continuity of care and case management within regionAssists in Quality Assurance and Risk Management program that may include clinical protocols, review of medical records, clinical information systems, credentialing, continuing professional education, patient satisfaction, follow up of adverse outcomes, Identifies continuing education and training needs for clinical staff (providers and medical assistants)Conducts medical records review (chart audits)Fields patient complaints and refers, when necessary, to Chief Medical OfficerReports all complaints for Risk Management/Patient Complaint Investigations according to established policy and procedureMonitors customer service and facilitates or performs customer service training in designated regionCoordinates and maintains Quality Assurance activities amongst sites under the Chief Medical Officer’s jurisdictionAssists clinics in identification of issues and opportunities to improve efficiency or quality of care providedMay serve as Laboratory Director, following NVHC policy and proceduresParticipates in quality management projectsMeets with provider staff on regular basis to provide guidance, coaching and collegial exchange of ideas regarding the practice of medicineCompletes provider evaluations, as requestedPlans for and ensures new clinical staff assigned to their region of responsibility are oriented to the organization and clinic site according to established policy and procedure protocolPerforms routine on site visits, coaching and guiding to inform and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures within designated area of responsibilityWorks closely with the Chief Medical Officer to coordinate workload in the Physician Lead's jurisdictionServes as liaison between NVHC, private health professional community and public health system in their area of responsibility and serves on local community boards as approved/directed by the Chief Medical OfficerIncrease the visibility of NVHC's presence in the communities served by the Physician Lead by involvement in community activities, e., senior center, emergency medical services, etc.Ensures proper computer procedures as followed as per NVHC policy and procedureReports weekly to the Chief Medical OfficerDevelop and maintain a team atmosphere that ensures the development of personal growth of teamUtilizes professional medical training, knowledge and skills in reviewing medical records, developing protocols, and ensuring quality of careGuides or provides consultative services as needed or requestedEnsures education of provider staff; protocols established prior to implementation of clinical service expansion projectsUtilizes good time management skills to ensure all facets of Physician Lead's responsibilities are completedUtilizes utilization review processes to ensure efficiency and to maximize resourcesVerifies and ensures competency when utilizing EMR and EPM system Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a specific medical specialty or have completed residency and be Board Eligible.  Must be licensed in the State of Nevada.
