The Physician Quality Measurement Leader brings expertise, experience and leadership to optimize and expand the National Quality Forum’s and The Joint Commission’s development and use of quality measures in NQF/TJC products. The Physician Lead focuses on clinical and technical issues that will enhance the impact, acceptance and use of measurement-based evaluation products. Internally, the physician leader contributes to multi-disciplinary product teams and collaborates with the Products Lead to develop and adapt measures that are scientifically sound, usable, and acceptable. Externally, this leader is a prominent face of NQF’s expertise, integrity and leadership in the science of quality measurement, the integration of quality measures into workflows, and the art of using measurement within programs to drive improvement. The Physcian Lead works with healthcare provider and payer communities to enhance collaboration and advance progress toward the use of aligned, lower-burden, high priority measures in NQF/TJC products.

 

Responsibilities Serve as a clinical and subject-matter expert across measure and measure set development projects, including advising on measurement science, the incorporation of clinical guidelines and other clinical and epidemiological evidence, and the feasibility and actionability of measures in clinical practice.Engage stakeholders in order to drive consensus and assist with acceptance/uptake of new measures and productsExpand public and private sector partnerships to advance priority areas of measurement and improvementFoster new and strengthened collaborations and business partnerships with professional societies and other key partner organizations to facilitate adaptation and use of high priority measures in NQF/TJC products and measure acceptance and alignmentDevelop and lead strategic initiatives that address public and private sector stakeholder priorities for next-generation measures and measure infrastructure, including the uses of clinical and patient-reported data at scalePartner with NQF and TJC leadership to conceive, test and build new product lines that meet the critical needs of purchasers, private payers, and federal and state governmentRepresent NQF and TJC at external meetings and in forums that support our efforts to use measurement to drive improved health care quality, outcomes, and affordabilityServe as an influential presence with external stakeholders, including through speaking, writing, and facilitating convened discussions Qualifications

Education/Certification:

MD or DO. Formal training in research and/or measurement methods preferred.

Professional Qualifications:

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in healthcare quality measurement and improvement, with a proven track record of effectivenessDeep expertise in the science of quality measurement, ideally with experience in measure development and validation, and with the selection for and implementation of measures in clinical settings or population-based programsProven track record for building and managing high performing teamsDemonstrated success in building consensus and achieving compelling results in programs with diverse stakeholder perspectivesExperience in government contracting and working with health-related federal agenciesSuccessful track record of generating revenue through developing and deploying strategic initiatives that address stakeholder needs  A respected thought-leader in the field of quality measurement and improvement, with a strong track record of speaking and writing
