Physician Liaison

Job Summary

To effectively represent and promote the physicians and services of Vandalia Souths’ market area and serve as the primary liaison to the referring community. Prospective consumer groups include new and established professional referral sources/organizations, caregivers and end users, and managed care organizations. With Chief Marketing Officer and other marketing team members, provide leadership direction in business development to staff members and managers. Serve as an internal liaison to wholly owned physician practices to help support the Ambulatory leadership team with rounding initiatives, support development and management of goals, support on boarding of new providers, and to promote awareness of new physicians and services to the community. Liaison will work with the Ambulatory leadership team and VP to focus on specific practices in the region. Position reports to the VP & Chief Marketing Officer of Vandalia Health.

 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for forming, growing, and maintaining long-term partnerships with physicians, medical specialty groups, and other clinical groups to increase referrals.
• Fosters goodwill and support for our organization.
• Identifies opportunities for collaboration and partnership to further our mission and objectives.
• Effectively uses all Marketing and Communications tools to promote the Vandalia South brand and specific service lines, using key communication strategies, techniques, and tools. Spends significant time contacting professional communities.
• Provides needed assistance to resolve open issues with consumers and procure required information/documentation to support revenues.
• Resolves open issues with referral sources/consumers, procure required information, including medical necessity documents to support revenues and customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in business marketing.
• Works collaboratively with other staff to develop creative/innovative approaches to sales.
• Provides appropriate sales, service, and business development direction to customer service and direct service staff members, in cooperation with department managers.
• Participates in executing promotions, marketing plans, and advertising efforts, within corporate and budgetary guidelines.
• Maintain and document all applicable required education.
• Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations.
• Comply with the company's attendance policy.
• Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution.
• Perform work in a cost-effective manner.
• Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations.
• Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization.
• Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
• Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

At least 5 years progressive experience in marketing, sales and community development services with a health care organization. Demonstrated proficiency with basic business financial concepts. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to educate the referral sources, and promote Vandalia South effectively. Ability to develop creative and effective strategies to initiate new business, and maintain positive referral patterns.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the

 

Education 

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) . Successful experience in sales or marketing preferred. Requires above average oral and written communication skills, and the ability to independently manage travel schedule and activities.
