Position Purpose
The incumbent provides surgical and non-surgical consultations for benign gynecologic disorders, such as endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic pain, often for medically and surgically complicated patients. Specifically, the incumbent must have expertise in utilization of vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to pelvic surgery, proficiency in full-spectrum evidence-based endometriosis workup and surgical management.
Position will also serve as a core member of the educational faculty at the at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and provide clinical, didactic, and surgical training for the medical students, participate in research, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department. Position will participate in shared GYN call responsibilities, with obstetric call preferred for early career incumbents.
The incumbent will work in conjunction with urogynecology and generalist GYN surgeons, leading in the creation and expansion building a Pelvic Surgery Center of Excellent, focusing on growth of patient/surgical volumes to serve the women of Northern Nevada.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physicians area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Specialty-specific scope of practice: Full breadth gynecologic surgery with focus on complex pathology, including:
Expertise in utilization of hysteroscopic, vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches to pelvic surgery
Proficiency in full-spectrum endometriosis workup and surgical management including advanced imaging, refractory disease, peritonectomy.
Full spectrum management of uterine leiomyoma
Expertise in management of chronic pelvic pain
Desire to integrate teaching of medical students and residents into all aspects of care.
Research background and desire to foster/lead research with learners.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent (such as MBBS or MBChB), or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Experience:
Completed Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at accredited US program.
Completed Fellowship in Minimally invasive Gynecologic Surgery at an AAGL-sponsored program and have demonstrable clinical and surgical experience in complex gynecologic disorders.
License(s):
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s):
Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in OB/GYN by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). If physician is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
Completion or intention to complete the ABOG Focused Practice Designation for Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification, but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with use of electronical medical records systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to credential through Renowns Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
