Position Purpose
As a Vascular Neurologist, employee evaluates and treats acute urgent and emergent neurological conditions including but not limited to acute seizure disorders, acute onset severe headaches, intracranial hemorrhage, with a primary focus on stroke/neurovascular conditions in an acute setting. This individual is responsible for Neuro ICU consultations, acute inpatient neurology, and stroke consultations, tele stroke, and emergency department coverage. Works in conjunction with others to oversee the care of complex neurological conditions and prepares the patient for transitions of care as needed.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physicians area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Description
Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent (such as MBBS or MBChB), or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Experience:
Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred. Fellowship training in stroke medicine/vascular neurology, preferred, or training and experience deemed equivalent by Director of Neurosciences, Section Chief, or designee.
License(s):
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s):
Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification(s) must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to credential through Renowns Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
