The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Glaucoma Specialist to join our team! Faculty member will be expected to provide clinical, teaching and research duties, as their experience and interest allows. On-call duties will be on a shared rotation based on the number of faculty members. Faculty will also supervise medical students and residents in clinics and surgeries as well as participate in the didactic teaching program. Candidates interested in research may be afforded protected time to complete clinical and bench research, but all candidates will be encouraged to participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings in addition to their clinical and teaching duties.
Engage actively in our didactic teaching program, supervising medical students and residents to foster their professional development. Participate in shared rotations for call coverage, inpatient consults, and JayDoc clinics, contributing to our collaborative care approach. Uphold a professional and patient-centered approach, as reflected in our hospital's patient experience survey. Serve on departmental committees and support the School of Medicine and University initiatives as required. Contribute to clinical research, presenting findings at national and regional meetings, in alignment with our academic track. Additionally, deliver clinical and surgical services under Professional Services Agreements with the VA and/or other affiliated sites. This role offers a stimulating environment to integrate clinical excellence, education, and research in Ophthalmology Glaucoma care.
Required Qualifications:Medical Doctorate or equivalent degree, board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology and successful completion of a surgical Glaucoma fellowshipPreferred Qualifications: Work Experience: Academic background involving teaching with interest in clinical or basic research is preferred.
