Physician Practice Coding Educator
Cone Health
The Physician Practice Coding Educator provides documentation and coding education to physicians, mid-levels, support staff and their administration on how to properly apply documentation guidelines and coding principles based on the actual review of their documentation. Responsible for being able to review various reports from claims data, Cone HealthLink and other practice management systems in order to analyze appropriate use of billing codes.
Develops and implements training materials for educational purposes. Audits and educates providers on a one-on-one basis, phone calls,
Epic in basket and Teams, etc.
Development of educational programs (annual required training and ongoing training) on compliance for employees, managers and senior leaders.
Monitors regulatory and reimbursement information to keep informed of relevant changes and updates. Attends coding and auditing webinars, meetings, classes and seminars.
Abstracts coding data from various reports, analyzing for possible trends, using data to prepare provider educational sessions
Acts as a coding resource for providers, administration and/or office staff and responds in a timely manner
Respond to payor audits by CMS RAC contractor, Medicare, Medicaid as well as other payors or compliance projects.
Resolves coding questions from patient inquiries or denied services from insurance companies.
Assesses coder comprehension.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates Degree
EXPERIENCE:Required: 5 years of healthcare experience including E/M auditing experience, documentation guidelines or other relevant experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: CPC or CCS-P
Preferred: CEMC (Certified Evaluation and Management Coder)
