Position Summary / Career Interest:

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, is seeking a dedicated COPD/Airways Disease Investigator to join our team at a prestigious tertiary care teaching hospital. The successful candidate will contribute at least 50% of their time to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science research and other acceptable methods as outlined for University faculty

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Development:Establish a Centers for Excellence Program for COPD/Airways Disease at The University of Kansas Health SystemSeek extramural/intramural funds to support research and scholarship activitiesContribute to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science and other acceptable methods

Medical Care:Provide medical care to pulmonary patients, including inpatient service and ambulatory clinics

Teaching and Instruction:Instruct and demonstrate appropriate medical and research techniques to medical students, residents, and fellowsParticipate in Department and Division educational activities

Mission Support:Support the mission of delivering the highest quality of careFulfill teaching, research, and academic responsibilities

Required Qualifications: 

MD/DO or equivalent Satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary Medicine fellowship from an ACGME accredited program, with board certification/board eligibility in Pulmonary DiseasesIn the field of COPD or Airways Disease, proven track record in clinical or translational researchExperience in providing comprehensive pulmonary careStrong commitment to education and training of medical students, residents, and fellowsAbility to secure research fundingEligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
