Physician Retention Coordinator - Physician Recruiting & Retention

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

1. Job responsibilities include those listed in competencies document

2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-

workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

3. Coordinates the retention activities to sustain and maintain a strong, highly qualified medical staff for McLeod Health

and our community. Maintains regular contact with the new physicians, NPs and PA providers during their first year

of employment to stay abreast of how they are adjusting, and to anticipate any problems that may develop. The focus

of this position is to continuously monitor the physician, NP or PA’s and his/her family’s transition into our community

and healthcare system.

4. Facilitates locum Physicians, permanently hired physicians and mid-level providers transition from the Recruitment

phase to the Retention Phase

5. Completes a “Retention Plan” for each newly hired Physician, NP and PA to McLeod Health.

6. Servers as the On-boarding liaison by entering the new provider (whether permanent or temporary) in the HR system

and ensuring all internal personnel have what is needed to complete the on-boarding process. To include by not limited

to Credentialing, Privileges, Marketing, HR Personnel and HR databases

7. Coordinates all pre-employment activities to introduce the provider to McLeod Health

8. Serves as the liaison between the provider and all departments necessary to on-board providers to McLeod Health.

9. Serves as the liaison for all permanent or temporary physicians, NPs and PAs by ensuring their pre-employment

appointments are scheduled and he/she is adequately adjusting to the organization.

10. For permanent physician new hires; conducts New Hire Surveys and Exit Interviews with physicians

11. Strives to build relationships and trust among the medical staff and community representatives

12. Continuously monitors the progress and success of the retention program through data and gathering and reporting

13. Serves a primary contact for the department with all Onboarding and Retention related events and inquiries

14. As needed, assist with the recruitment of locum tenens physicians, or mid-level providers to the system.

15. Some assistance and involvement with Physician Leadership Development may be required.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Training:

· Two years’ previous marketing or public relations experience in the healthcare field

· Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally and

follow up with appropriate personnel on a regular basis.

· Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

· Must have the ability to multi-task; to organize and prioritize duties; and, to be flexible in varying situations.

· Must be creative and able to incorporate new ideas into the program.

· Must have the willingness to telephone and meet with individuals in the early morning and evenings as needed to

enhance retention efforts; and, to travel as required to assist in the recruitment of these providers.

· Demonstrate professional image through performance that is consistent with established policies and procedures;

dresses and is groomed in a professional manner.

· Demonstrates sensitivity to different cultures, ethnicity, and our diverse medical staff.

· Must have knowledge of the medical community and be familiar with marketing/public relations techniques,

especially sales. Must be familiar with the hospital/group practice and the services it provides

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education: · Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school
