Physicist MS 2

Job Summary: The Physicist MS 2 performs periodic quality assurance tasks on radiation therapy equipment, software, and clinical processes. Performs treatment planning and patient specific quality assurance. Participates in academic and research programs. Documents all procedures and results for quality assurance.These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or other related Biomedical Sciences required. Minimum four years of experience in clinical therapy physics required.

Knowledge and Skills: Must know theoretical concepts behind various clinical medical physics tasks and be able to strike a balance between theoretical knowledge and clinical realities. Be able to create and QA treatment plans for cancer patients using x-rays, protons, and brachytherapy techniques. Be able to independently perform periodic quality assurance and calibration procedures on radiation treatment machines, including proton therapy machines. Should be knowledgeable about the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or e-chart system. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Must have good interpersonal skills and be a team player. Ability to make quick and informed decisions, especially pertaining to patient treatments, and should be detail oriented.

Licensures and Certifications: American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent Certification in therapeutic medical physics required.
