Summary of Job Duties:The RN Vascular Access Nurse, under general direction, has authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Vascular Access. Functions primarily as a consultant; provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Provides for staff development in areas of expertise. Responsible for product recommendations in areas of expertise.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associate’s Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.Experience, amount (in years) and type:1 or more years of nursing experienceStrong basic Vascular Access background and skill setExperience in Medical Record SystemExperience in Clinical DocumentationValid RN License

 Preferred Qualifications:

2 or more years of nursing/leadership experience in an academic, acute care institutionIs proficient and actively placing PIV/PICCKnowledge in Epic Medical Record SystemKnowledge in MS Office and database softwareExperience in Quality Monitoring and AnalysisKnowledgeable in cardiac rhythm recognition

Educates staff on prevention and treatment of Vascular Access concerns.Assists with procedure/policy development and reviewAssists staff to maintain current knowledge and competence in areas of Vascular Access.
