**Description** Central Mechanical Construction Co. **Job Title: Pipe Welder** **Location: Manhattan, KS** **FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt** **About Us:** As one of the Midwest's premier full-service mechanical contractors, Central Mechanical Construction offers a high standard of working culture with a firm foundation in heating, air conditioning, plumbing, piping, ductwork, and utilities services. **Position Summary:** The Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site and may operate a variety of hand and power tools. Laborers will help prepare and clean up job sites and perform other duties as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Position requires having all your own hand tools. (Power tools will be provided). + Work on medical, school, federal, state, and commercial business projects. + Assembles, install, maintain, and pressure test pipes, fittings, and valves of hydronic, gas steam, and air systems according to specifications and codes. + Performing all or a combination of the following tasks: Installing, modifying, maintaining, and repairing various other components of a piping system. + Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. + Lay out, position, align, and fit components together. + Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding. + Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded metal arc, or gas welding equipment. + Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools. + Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations. + Certification at one or more levels is required. A 6G, 100% X-ray, pipe welding test is required. + Regular attendance is required. + Some travel may be required. + Performs other duties as required. **Qualifications & Skills:** + Minimum two years’ experience in pipe welding.
