Title: Pipefitter
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: Pay ranges from $25.98 to $32.57
Schedule: Rotating schedule, one week 36-hours (Friday-Sunday), following week 48-hours (Thursday-Sunday)
Focus: The Pipefitter is responsible for layout, fabricating, assembling, installing, repairing, testing and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, waste systems, industrial production and processing systems.
Pipefitter Essential Job Functions: Selects the type and size of pipe; and related material such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders; according to job specifications. Welding all piping as required by gas, tig, electric, etc. Inspects the worksite to determine the presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness. Manipulates pipe using a saw, oxygen-acetylene torch, pipe cutters, hammers, chisels, and pipe machine. Insulates all piping as required with materials such as fiberglass, calcium silicate, or other similar materials. Repairs damaged asbestos insulation by means of encapsulation. Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, toilets, faucets etc. Pipefitter Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Must meet one of the following requirements: 2 years recent and relevant Pipefitter or Plumber experience; OR, Certificate or diploma in Pipefitting, Water Treatment, Boiler Operations or Plumbing from an accredited trade school or vocational school; OR, Relevant military education and/or experience in pipefitting, water treatment, boiler operations or plumbing. Basic welding skills and working knowledge of welding preferred Must have ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers, etc.). Must be able to complete a 24-hr Asbestos Worker Certification and specific environmental training as required. Ability and willingness to work weekends, including overtime Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a government driver's license.
