Pipeline / Facilities Integrity Lead Technician

POSITIONPURPOSE:

We are seeking a skilled Multi Ticketed Level II Advanced NDT Technician to lead and execute complex non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections that uphold the highest industry standards for pipeline and facilities integrity. This role combines hands-on inspection duties with leadership and mentorship responsibilities, ensuring that all work complies with regulatory codes, industry standards, and internal procedures.

 

The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in advanced NDT methods, with the ability to train and mentor other Level II and Trainee Technicians, fostering skill development across the team.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs and completes advanced and conventional NDT field inspections including but not limited to: Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), Magnetic Testing(MT), Eddy Current Array (ECA), and Guided Wave Ultrasonic Testing (GWUT) incompliance with client, industry and company standards and policies.

Ensure all equipment is set up, always calibrated and functional in alignment with client and company procedures.

Applies testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications for advanced NDT methods.

Prepares and completes all necessary integrity markups, reporting, and paperwork required in compliance with client, industry and company standards and policies.

Provides guidance, training and mentorship for the continuous development of Level I and Pipeline Integrity Trainee Technicians in compliance with industry codes, standards and procedures.

Provides applicable orientation and training to Level I and Trainee Technicians.

Actively promotes and proactively models the company’s focus on safety when interacting with all current and future employees and clients.

Supports research and development activities both internally and for our clients.

Strong commitment to quality inspection and client interfacing.

Represents Applus with outside groups, regulatory bodies, associations, and clients.

Adhering to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.

Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Strong technical knowledge and understanding of advanced NDT techniques, integrity services and procedures.

Fundamental understanding of industry codes, regulations and practices.

A strong ability to set up, calibrate, test, interpret and evaluate findings on required NDT equipment for advanced methods in compliance with codes, standards and procedures.

Thorough understanding of technique specific safety and operational field requirements regarding safe work practices and procedures.

Ability to read technical documents and procedures and apply them in the field.

Acquire and maintain the necessary certifications to service clients.

Excellent report8 writing and review skills.

Excellent customer service focus, ability to quickly build strong working relationships with business partners and colleagues and customers.

Strong verbal and written communication skills matched with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.

Ability to adapt in a high pressure and high production environment while managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.

Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize, solve problems, and consistently meet deadlines.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, (GED).

Certifications: Possess ASNT or ISO 9712 Level II/III certification in conventional and advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)methods. In addition to the certification requirements the candidate will have hands-on field experience with a proven track record in the following methods:

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing(PAUT) Required

Time of Flight Diffraction(TOFD) Required

Full Matrix Capture (FMC) Preferred

Eddy Current Array (ECA) Preferred

Magnetic Testing (MT) Required

Guided Wave Ultrasonics (GUL) Preferred

 

The ideal candidate will be proficient in utilizing these methods for accurate and effective assessments, with a solid understanding of the applications and limitations of each technique in pipeline and facilities integrity contexts.

 

WORKINGCONDITIONS:

Required to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.

Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials in various working environments.

Commonly exposed to walking on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Occasionally required to work in noisy/loud working environments especially on project sites.

Required to work overtime during the week and weekend depending on project scope and work volume.

Occasional to frequent travel will be required within USA.

Working conditions will vary between project locations.
