Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pipewelder skilled in TIG Copper Nickel, TIG Stainless Steel, and Stick and TIG Carbon Steel multi-pass welding. The role involves performing all-position fillet and butt welds using the GTAW process. The ideal candidate will be capable of fusing inserts and welding various materials, including Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Copper Nickel pipe, using Stick-SMAW and TIG-GTAW processes. This position requires the ability to execute welding tasks aboard vessels and in shipboard environments, safely and efficiently using hand and power tools. A strong understanding and ability to interpret NAVSEA drawings and blueprints are essential.

ResponsibilitiesPerform TIG Copper Nickel, TIG Stainless Steel, and Stick and TIG Carbon Steel multi-pass welding.Execute all-position fillet and butt welds using the GTAW process.Fuse inserts and weld Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Copper Nickel pipe using Stick-SMAW and TIG-GTAW processes.Accomplish welding processes aboard vessels and in shipboard environments.Safely and efficiently use hand tools and power tools.Interpret and understand NAVSEA drawings and blueprints.Communicate effectively and work well with others.Essential Skills5-8 years of experience as a 1st class Pipewelder.Proficiency in TIG Copper Nickel welding.Proficiency in TIG Stainless Steel welding.Proficiency in Stick or TIG Carbon Steel welding.Diverse welding experience.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to perform all positions using the SMAW and GTAW processes.Experience with thin wall sockets, required for below 0.187 wall joints.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work takes place in various shipyards, including BAE, Nassco, and Navy Base, with potential support for other jobs at Little Creek, MHI, NNSY, and other local installations requiring DBIDS. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work at different yards as needed. Multiple jobs are run simultaneously. OSHA and VSRA certifications are needed, and candidates can start pending DBIDS.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $36.00
