Planetree, a non-profit organization which pioneered the modern movement of person-centered care, is seeking an organized and energetic team member to join our Americas team as Regional Director.
Founded by a single patient in 1978, Planetree has empowered over 9 million patients and healthcare providers to look at the care journey in a whole new way. Planetree is a consulting organization, working with healthcare provider organizations in the United States and in more than 30 countries globally to implement comprehensive person-centered models of care. Planetree is an advocacy organization, working with ministries of health and health-related NGOs around the world to promote person-centered care (PCC) as a model for improving quality of health care and services. And, through partnerships with universities in several countries, Planetree is changing the way that person-centered approaches to care are studied – and taught to future generations of healthcare professionals.
Reporting to the VP of Global Services, the Regional Director Americas will lead Planetree’s growth and strategic initiatives across the Americas Region (USA, Canada, Latin America). This position is responsible for expanding Planetree’s market presence, driving revenue opportunities by promoting our person-centered care certification, consulting services, and training programs. The Regional Director will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare executives, government bodies, and industry leaders, while overseeing regional business development partnership expansion, and client engagement. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in healthcare quality, accreditation, and market expansion, who can drive results, lead teams, and execute strategic objectives in a dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead the development and execution of Planetree’s regional strategy in the Americas, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and strategic goals. Drive the implementation of the Planetree Framework, enhancing patient experience and operational performance in healthcare organizations throughout the region.
Sales & Market Expansion
Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities and markets, expanding Planetree’s footprint in key areas across the Americas. Manage and nurture relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government entities, and NGOs. Negotiate and secure new contracts for Planetree’s certification, consulting, and training services, ensuring alignment with regional needs and market demands. Monitor market trends and healthcare system changes to proactively address evolving needs and identify new opportunities.
Regional Account Management
Develop and execute annual account plans for key regional clients in collaboration with the Director Consulting Americas Oversee a portfolio of regional clients to ensure the successful delivery of Planetree’s services and programs in collaboration with the Director Consulting Americas. Work with the Planetree PCC Consulting team to provide ongoing strategic guidance and support to existing and new client organizations during their Planetree implementation experience and journey. Monitor client satisfaction, proactively address issues, and ensure the high quality of service delivery and experience.
Team Leadership & Development
Build and manage a high-performing regional team that fosters a collaborative and results-driven environment. Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to clients and partners. Collaborate closely with internal teams (certification, consulting, training) to ensure seamless service delivery and integration of Planetree’s programs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership
Establish and maintain relationships with key healthcare leaders, policymakers, and influencers in the region. Represent Planetree at industry conferences, healthcare forums, and regional events, positioning the organization as a leader in person-centered care. Serve as the primary point of contact for key government agencies and healthcare authorities to advocate for the adoption of person-centered care standards. Provide thought leadership on person-centered care to influence and guide healthcare practices and policies at the regional level.
Financial Management & Reporting
Develop and manage the Americas regional budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to meet strategic priorities and financial goals. Track revenue generation, profitability, and performance metrics, and provide regular reports to Planetree leadership. Lead the development of financial forecasts and ensure the achievement of revenue targets for the region.
Innovation & Quality Improvement
Continuously evaluate and improve Planetree’s service offerings to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and aligned with regional healthcare client needs. Promote innovation in healthcare service delivery with technology, data, and evidence-based practices that enhance patient and family experiences. Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for program enhancement, operational efficiency, and quality improvement.Critical Skills
Strong long-term planning and business development skills to identify and seize opportunities while navigating complex market dynamics. Strong leadership skills with experience in managing diverse teams and fostering a collaborative, results-oriented culture. Ability to negotiate and close deals that align with both client needs and Planetree’s goals. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain long-term, trusted relationships with clients and partners. Deep understanding of the cultural, social, and political nuances across the Americas region. Strong budgeting, financial forecasting, and financial management skills to ensure resources are utilized efficiently and effectively. Strong public speaking and presentation abilities to represent Planetree at industry conferences, seminars, and in meetings with key stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and alignment with goals. Strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and obstacles, leveraging innovative approaches to drive solutions.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field Preferred: Additional research, certifications, or other master’s degree(s)
Experience
At least 10 years of senior leadership experience in healthcare, with a focus on quality improvement, accreditation, and person-centered care. Proven track record in business development, including partnership building and market expansion in the healthcare sector both domestically and internationally. Experience working in or with the US healthcare landscape, including familiarity with regulatory and accreditation bodies in the region. Seasoned people leader with the ability to lead a diverse set of professionals across the region

Performance Evaluation
Performance objectives will be established at the beginning of the team member’s period of employment. These objectives will be discussed and agreed with the team member’s direct line manager. This will form the team member’s Development & Performance Plan for the year.
