Some exciting elements of transportation projects you would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver are listed below:
• Analyze and evaluate bicycle, pedestrian and other complete streets design
alternatives
• Planning for transit improvements, including BRT and transit enhancements
• Streetscape and urban design planning, visioning, and implementation
• Multimodal network planning and prioritization
• Passenger rail corridor planning and alternatives analysis
• Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Studies
• National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Documentation
• USDOT discretionary grant writing
The Planner III would be responsible for providing support for and implementing multiple types of analysis required to complete a variety of project deliverables. Tasks would include initial data collection, concept development, alternative analysis, documentation and permitting. Working through these processes includes researching, gathering, and analyzing data, preparing project materials.
The Planner III would collaborate and communicate with clients and the community, creating and delivering presentations and reports. May function as task lead with Project Manager oversight and provide technical guidance to early career staff.
What You’ll Do:
Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.Participates in client meetings and interactions.Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projectsWrites major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.Performs other duties as assigned.What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience, orMaster's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experienceWhat You’ll Bring:
Understands policies and procedures of the client processes (i.e., regulations, concept of final design, environmental procedure manual).Functions as the Task Lead for simple projects with the ability to contribute to writing scopes and budgets with Project Manager oversight.Gains an advanced understanding of environmental laws (i.e., NEPA, local, state and federal) and ensures legal compliance. Applies knowledge to more complex documents, provides recommendations to clients, and ensures permits are completed, with oversight from more experienced staff.Contributes to scope of work, budget, and schedule as part of task expansion or new proposals with guidance from more experienced staff.Prepares or contributes to preparation of environmental documentation for moderately complex transportation projects. Functions as the Task Lead for environmental documents with oversight from more experienced staff.Additional Information
