The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
In line with the above scope and commencement of construction activities in several months, HumeLink West is now recruiting a Planner to join the team.
Please note this role is a site delivery role requiring FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply. Local applicants are highly considered.
Key Accountabilities
· Assist the Project Managers / Construction Team in the scheduling, tracking progress, and updating progress within the Project Schedule to meet contractual requirements.
· Actively contribute to identification of and response to project risks and opportunities.
· In conjunction with the Senior planner, develop design and construction programs that reflect agreed methodologies and identify key activities, milestones and constraints.
· Maintain clear and concise communication with Project Team.
· Liaise with construction personnel on site to ensure that all construction activity data reflects real levels of progress.
· Communicate with external subcontractors to review their plans and record actual progress and update forecast completion dates.
· Prepare staging documentation for meetings and reviews.
· Assist with the management of site scheduling information and records in the format and order required by the project.
· Develop and manage your own work schedule to ensure required tasks are delivered to quality within required timeframes.
About You
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or a related discipline.
· 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling within transmission line, substation, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
· Strong technical understanding of substations and construction, commissioning and maintenance processes are highly desirable.
· Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers and contractors.
· Skilled in managing project team members expectations and providing regular project updates.
· Ability to analyse project schedules, identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
· Additional certifications in planning, scheduling or project management are highly desirable.
