Job DescriptionThis is a site-based role responsible for leading the planning and scheduling function for an assigned project package. The Planning Engineer will provide expert support to the Project Management and Supervision teams in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on project progress, with a strong focus on delay analysis, claims evaluation, and forensic planning to safeguard project timelines and mitigate risks.
Job Duties:
Understand the project scope, contractual milestones, and the logical sequencing of construction activities across disciplines.Review, analyze, and monitor contractors’ and subcontractors’ baseline and updated programmes using Primavera P6.Track procurement and construction activities, identifying deviations and providing early warnings for potential delays.Work closely with the contractor’s planning team to ensure proper alignment of actual progress with approved schedules and contractual requirements.Prepare and present detailed progress reports, S-curves, and critical path analyses for weekly and monthly reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer and PMC.Evaluate Extension of Time (EOT) claims, conduct delay impact assessments, and prepare Window Analysis and Time Impact Analysis (TIA) as required.Proactively identify schedule-related risks and opportunities and advise on mitigation or recovery strategies.Provide independent assessments of site progress through regular inspections and coordination with site supervision staff.Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in assessing programme-related cost impacts, variation proposals, and potential disruption claims.Maintain detailed records of programme monitoring and provide input to support claim defense, dispute resolution, and negotiations with contractors.Participate in technical and commercial meetings, arbitration, or dispute discussions where programme expertise is required.Ensure the contractor’s adherence to contractual obligations regarding progress updates, notifications of delays, and compliance with time-related clauses.QualificationsMinimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.Specific Skills Required:
Expert user of Primavera P6 with strong analytical skills in construction planning and forensic delay analysis.Strong knowledge of EOT claim processes, disruption claims, TIA, and Window Analysis methodologies.Ability to work independently, with high accuracy and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication and report writing skills.Strong organizational and time management skills under pressure.Familiarity with FIDIC conditions of contract is preferred.Experience:
Minimum 10+ years of experience in planning and scheduling, with significant exposure to road infrastructure and civil construction projects.Proven track record in claims assessment, EOT evaluation, and forensic delay analysis on large-scale infrastructure projects in the region.·
