Planning Manager

Role Summary:

This functional manager role is responsible for leading the day-to-day Materials Planning function of the Raleigh site in support of the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and all associated performance objectives.  The Materials Planning team has responsibility for driving excellence in operations and materials planning for the Engineered-to-Order (ETO) business at the Raleigh, NC facility.  This includes all facets of materials and operations planning through short, medium, and long-term planning cycles to support customer order requirements, production control, MRP and planning master data governance.  This role must demonstrate enterprise leadership mindset behaviors and foster an environment of behavioral and functional excellence, employee development and engagement, and effective site staff collaboration.  Travel is expected to be less than 10%.

Responsibilities Include:

Lead and direct the planning team in all activities and processes involved in scheduling and committing customer orders into backlog and in the creation and execution of a capacity and material supply plan and order shipment forecast to support on-time delivery to customer order requirements and achieve the site financial operating objectives.Partner with the operations team to evaluate the production plan through short, medium, and long-term planning cycles and ensure that the operations capacity and capability are sufficient to execute the plan and take action to mitigate any deficiencies.  Drive excellence in plant resource utilization through effective capacity planning processes.Develop and execute an inventory and material flow strategy and establish robust material management systems to optimize plant inventory levels including purchased, WIP, and finished goods inventory to meet working capital goals and support the customer demand plan requirements.Lead all aspects of the ERP system data integrity and transactional accuracy and ensure controls are in place in each function to maintain the correct BOM structures, accurate production routings and item master data, transaction and inventory integrity, and system date accuracy.  Ensure that planning processes and ERP data governance will allow for accurate aggregations of supply and demand and drive appropriate actions.  Be responsible for overall data integrity of the ERP system in support of maintaining strong ERP health and leveraging its full capabilities.Establish and maintain an effective team communication and performance management process to ensure daily visibility to team performance, confirmation of standard work processes, proactive and robust problem solving of deviations, and on-going coaching and continuous improvement.  Leverage Lean principles and partner with the site CI leader to continually analyze and improve all internal planning and materials processes to drive waste out of the system, shorten order shipment lead-times, and deliver greater value to customers.As a site leader, demonstrate unwavering commitment to the Flowserve Values, Behaviors, and People Leader Expectations, driving a culture of high-performance in the way we think, act, and operate.  Maintain strict adherence to the Flowserve Code of Conduct, and flow down the same expectations throughout the functional team.Develop a culture of employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and job satisfaction to make the Raleigh site an employer of choice.  Attract, identify, develop and retain organization talent in an ongoing effort to support the talent management philosophy of the site. Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, operations, or business-related field.  For internal FLS candidates, ten years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.Three years of experience leading a materials or operations team in an Engineered-to-Order (ETO) discrete manufacturing environment, with demonstrated success in developing people and processes to achieve high-performance results.Strong understanding of the function of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) systems, with experience in how to leverage the system tools and processes to drive material and capacity planning excellence.Experience with developing and executing SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) processes.Demonstrated business acumen and fundamental understanding of financial statements, including profit and loss, cost of sales, and balance sheet.  Clear understanding of the financial impact of inventory account balances, working capital, and how to influence associated business results.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

High-level working knowledge of SAP or Epicor Avante as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.Planning and Inventory Management Certification through APICS or similar professional association.Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and experience in a manufacturing environment where Lean principles are core to the operating approach.Familiarity with nuclear industry requirements including ASME Section III, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and NQA-1 is a strong positive differentiator for this position.

On site in Raleigh, NCStandard office hours:  7:30AM – 4:15PM, Mon-Fri. including occasional Saturdays.
