We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Plant Accountant to join our team at a leading wire and cable manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing all plant-level accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the plant. This role plays a critical part in tracking and controlling costs, analyzing variances, overseeing capital investments, and ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMonth-End Close: Perform month-end close responsibilities including cost rolls, journal entries, reconciliations, and other related tasks in a timely and accurate manner.Cost Accounting: Analyze and track direct and indirect manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production-related expenses. Review cost allocation methods and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the plant’s budget, forecast, and variance analysis to help monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement.Inventory Control & Working Capital Management: Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, including the valuation of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods. Monitor inventory turnover and ensure proper management of inventory levels to optimize working capital. Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconcile with financial records.Capital Investments Oversight: Oversee capital investments to the plant, including the approval, tracking, and management of capital expenditures. Review and approve project proposals, ensuring that the capital budgeting process aligns with plant objectives and financial guidelines. Track project spending, monitor cost versus budget, and ensure that capital projects are completed on time and within budget. Assist with reviewing and closing out completed capital projects and ensuring the assets are placed into service.Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the plant's financial assets, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and relevant accounting standards (GAAP).Variance Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide actionable insights to address inefficiencies and improve plant operations.Fixed Assets Management: Maintain records and schedules for fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.Continuous Improvement: Assist in streamlining and improving financial reporting processes and systems, implementing best practices to drive operational efficiency and cost optimization. Work with LEAN and Automation teams to track success of key initiatives.Collaboration: Work closely with production, procurement, and product management teams to gather necessary data and ensure financial objectives align with operational goals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in AccountingExperience: At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on cost accounting or plant-level accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environmentKnowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. PowerQuery experience is a plus.Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.Knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting standards.
