We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Plant Accountant to fill a temporary 18-month leave of absence in London, ON , supporting our Automotive business. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. As a Plant Accountant, you will play a key role in managing branch accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements. The role includes maintaining the general ledger, coordinating the financial close process, performing reconciliations and analyses, issuing corporate reports, and ensuring tax and audit compliance. The Plant Accountant will also support the Administrator staff, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
So, what will you be doing as a Plant Accountant?
+ Lead branch accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, review and approval of financial statements, and ensuring proper internal controls.
+ Manage the financial close process and ensure deadlines are met with accuracy and compliance.
+ Perform local tax accounting and reporting, ensuring all tax-related requirements are met.
+ Complete corporate reporting requirements, both ongoing and ad hoc.
+ Maintain financial compliance with corporate and regulatory standards, including US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
+ Ensure the accuracy of financial data and support internal and external audits.
+ Respond to ad hoc requests and report requirements as necessary.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
+ Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Professional designation (CPA, CMA) is preferred.
+ 5+ years of finance and accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive industry preferred).
+ Strong understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP
+ Proven experience leading the financial close process and issuing financial statements
+ Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
+ Up to 5% (Local/Regional)
