Plant Buyer

Your Opportunity as the Plant Buyer

Leverage your organizational and budget keeping skills to support our McCalla, AL operations facility within our Purchasing team. Work directly across various internal departments to ensure smart spend of the Plant Budget when purchasing materials and parts, work to maximize cost reduction and increase overall process efficiencies.

Location: McCalla, AL

Work Arrangements: 100% onsite expectation

In this role you will:

Lead sourcing and purchasing of expense and capital materials, parts, and services

Execute all ordering for the facility including catalog and non-catalog orders, utilizing purchasing software

Ensure all items ordered adhere to pre-approved plant standards and policies (ex. chemicals, safety items, etc.)

Review purchasing and inventory reports regularly and follow up on outstanding orders

Manage plant blanket service POs, including receiving and reconciling invoices to orders

Assist Plant in new vender setups

Interface with corporate accounting and procurement departments regularly to ensure alignment with Corporate legal requirements

Maintain and keep updated all Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements

Maintain and keep updated all Certificates of Liability Insurance forms for vendors working on site

Continuously evaluate and improve plant purchasing processes

Develop cost saving initiatives

Maintains high levels of customer service between vendors and the plant

Work with storeroom on all storeroom orders with additions/deletions/changes to inventory levels, part numbers, and vendors

Work with engineering on all capital orders to ensure all details, project numbers, and tax forms are sent to the vendor

Serve as main point of contact for Corporate resources on bids, system upgrades, policies and Corporate initiatives

Support, coach, and train plant purchasing system users as needed

Lead the competitive bid process, including: creating detailed specifications, sending out bid packages, bid opening and awarding process, and communicating with suppliers

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's Degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree

2+ years experience of purchasing or buying responsibilities

Experience approving invoices and tracking budgets

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Understanding of general accounting principles (ex: verify operating expenses, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivables)

Ability to work off-shift as needed for plant emergencies

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role (not required):

Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Experience leveraging purchasing software systems
