Job Summary: 

\r\n

The Production Reporting and Accounting Manager oversees and manages the financial reporting and accounting functions at our manufacturing plant located in Mt. Olive, NC. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate operational, technical, and consultative functions including but not limited to yield reporting, managing budgets, variance reporting, inventory, and production related research and analysis. Additional duties include foster and developing a team of Accounting Supervisors and staff members. The Production Reporting and Accounting Manager will work closely with production and other departments to support financial decision-making and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: 

\r\n\r\nLeads, supports, and develops the plant production accounting team on best practices and new accounting standards.\r\nPrepares and analyzes actual costs versus standard costs variance reports from several departments and reports financial results to management on a weekly and monthly basis.\r\nEnsures accuracy and general ledger reporting of labor, yields, and variance reporting.\r\nDrives the development of the annual operating budget plan (AOP) for the manufacturing plant, including the impacts of the plan on standard costing.\r\nConducts all accounting activities, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Company procedures.\r\nAnalyzes zero-based budgeting (ZBB) trends, key performance indicators (KPIs) reporting, ad hoc reporting, and analytics.\r\nManages production accounting operations for multiple departments, including internal departmental variance reporting, general ledger journal entries, and reconciliation & analysis of accounts as requested.\r\nParticipates in weekly safety plant observations with senior plant management.\r\nGains a thorough understanding of plant operations.\r\nAttends and participates in senior plant staff meetings.\r\nEngages in capital development and project approval processes.\r\nOversees inventory reconciliation.\r\nDevelops and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in production accounting.\r\nMonitors compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.\r\nCollaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial goals and objectives.\r\nEvaluates financial performance and recommends corrective actions as needed.\r\nConducts cost-benefit analysis for potential projects and initiatives.\r\nSupports the Director of Production Reporting & Cost Analysis with special assignments and assists auditors in conducting internal and external audits. \r\nPerforms other duties as assigned. \r\n\r\n

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

\r\n\r\nExcellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross functionally and build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\r\nProven ability to lead and develop a team.\r\nThorough understanding of accounting principles, GAAP and financial reporting standards.\r\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\r\nPossess exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing workloads, and meeting deadlines.\r\nContinuous improvement mindset with a passion for automating/standardizing processes.\r\nDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.\r\nCommitted to high ethical standards and integrity in managing confidential and financial information.\r\nProficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) and accounting software such as SAP or other ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. \r\n\r\n

Education & Experience:   

\r\n\r\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.\r\n7+ years of relevant accounting experience, serving in roles such as Accounting Supervisor, Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant, Internal Auditor, or similar.\r\n3+ years of managerial experience supervising and developing a team of accounting professionals.\r\nPrior work experience in the food manufacturing industry, particularly in further processing is highly desired. \r\n\r\n

Working Conditions:   

\r\n\r\nWork is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers.\r\nThe noise level of the environment is usually moderate.\r\nSedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 25 pounds.\r\nMay require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.\r\nWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time. \r\n\r\n
