Position Overview

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering two student seasonal internship opportunities in the Davey Institute’s Diagnostic and Research Laboratories located in Kent, Ohio. The Davey Tree Expert Company is the North American leader in residential tree care, utility right-of-way management, commercial landscape services, and urban forestry / natural resource consulting with operations throughout the US and Canada. The Davey Institute supports Davey’s North American operations through research and development, environmental programs, technical support, and education and training.

Job Duties Processing plant, soil, and insect samples Assisting with diagnosing insect and disease problems of plants Assisting with field and lab research including maintenance of field plots, data collection, and data entry.  Qualifications Enrollment or future enrollment in a relevant degree program such as biology, botany, forestry, entomology, environmental science, horticulture, plant pathology, or related field Ability to lift 40 pounds Valid driver’s license; computer literacy Willingness to work outdoors Ability for limited local and overnight travel Good communication and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Divisional Overview
