We are looking for our next Plant Director I at our Ivyland, PA location. This role is in need of an experienced manufacturing leader to optimize operations at our two Pennsylvania locations, including Ivyland. This position involves guiding teams to fulfill objectives in material development, product design, manufacturing, laminating, and coating of membrane materials for industrial filtration, technical products, and performance fabrics. Additionally, the position includes overseeing the conversion of membranes into components for medical device, vehicle electrification, bioprocessing, and disk drive applications. These sites facilitate research and development, as well as supply raw materials crucial to Donaldson's supply chain, with significant growth anticipated in the coming years. This leader will be required to communicate and influence various commercial leaders while effectively managing competing priorities.
This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a manufacturing operations, including guaranteeing worker safety, planning production schedules, ensuring quality control, managing staff, maintaining equipment, and optimizing costs, all while meeting production targets and adhering to relevant regulations.
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership and Communication:
Collaborating and negotiating across Donaldson's Commercial leadership to align Business Unit production and R&D needs with operational capacity and priorities.
Communicating with all staff levels, from supervisors to production workers and management.
Developing and executing strategic plans to optimize operational capacity, capability and cost.
Safety Compliance:
Enforcing safety regulations and procedures within the plant.
Investigating safety incidents and implementing corrective actions.
Promoting a culture of safety awareness among employees.
Quality Control:
Define, Implement and maintain quality standards during production.
Inspect finished products to meet specifications.
Develop efficient manufacturing sites that comply with regulatory requirements and corporate policies (cGMP, ISO 9001/14001/13485/16949).
Production Planning and Management:
Developing and executing production schedules to meet demand.
Optimizing material flow and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
Monitoring production processes and identifying areas for improvement.
Cost Control:
Managing operational budget by controlling expenses and manufacturing costs.
Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing strategies.
Optimizing raw and finished good inventory levels.
People Management:
Coordinating plant activities through management team to ensure that manufacturing and R&D objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Hiring, training, and developing production and professional/managerial staff.
Motivating and leading teams to achieve performance and operational goals.
Addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts.
Maintenance and Infrastructure:
Overseeing the maintenance and repair of production equipment.
Managing facility infrastructure and ensuring proper upkeep.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensuring adherence to all relevant industry regulations and standards.
Generating reports on production metrics, quality, and safety performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field
5+ years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with state, federal, and corporate standards (cGMP, ISO 9001/14001/13485, IATF, 21CFR820)
10+ years of operational management in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Financial knowledge related to operations indicators, capital planning, and asset management
Knowledge of ASCP, Oracle Workbench, and/or Warehouse Management Software
Master's degree in related fields would be beneficial
Knowledge of manufacturing systems, Lean principles, and plant management, preferably in rolled goods and device manufacturing.
Strong leadership skills to influence, empower, and develop others
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities
