We are seeking a skilled and innovative Plant Engineer to oversee and optimize the daily operations of our New Orleans, LA facility. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining equipment, improving production processes, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant operations.

This position requires a strong technical background, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to driving continuous improvements. The incumbent will work closely with the Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Logistics, Project, and Business teams, on productivity, efficiency, and reliability initiatives to ensure the supply of our products.

The New Orleans facility consist of 2 liquid hydrogen plants, a nitrogen liquefier, and a steam methane reformer. These plants serve customers via pipeline and cryogenic liquid transportation. It is vital to the supply of liquid hydrogen and gaseous hydrogen through an integrated 400+ miles of pipeline and national distribution network.

Required Skills / Abilities:  

Desire to make a measurable positive impact to safety, plant performance, and profitability.Microsoft Office ProficiencyDesire to obtain hands-on experience in an operating plant environment.  This includes troubleshooting production problems and gathering data in the field.Ability to work with a team of plant operators and engineers and provide the communication bridge for technical recommendations between operations and plant management.Ability to balance competing priorities and ensure time-sensitive projects are completed punctually.Be flexible with work hours during plant upsets and turnarounds.Ability to understand and gather data and troubleshoot matters related to water quality and analytical equipment.Ability to develop technical recommendations by applying reasonable assumptions to available data.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Support for plant environmental, health, and safety programs, through strict adherence to management of change procedures, execution of project hazards reviews, and regular participation in site safety meetings.Ensuring that each plant’s process control systems are operating the plants at optimum efficiency, peak performance, and maximum reliability.Develop and support projects for the plant that aid in increasing production, decreasing costs, and improving reliability.  This includes working closely with operations, maintenance, project teams, the regional controls support team, and the plant process engineer to see projects to completion.The plant engineer is often called upon to assist in the resolution of long-term reliability and maintenance issues involving life extension of an asset, unusual failure modes, fouling of heat transfer surfaces, breakdown of insulation, and resolution of issues related to rotating and reciprocating equipment.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

Minimum of BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with experience in an operating plant environment.Experience working with P&IDs and plant equipment (compressors, heat exchangers, expanders).Strong thermodynamic background with ability to perform heat and material balances.
