Summary of Objective:

Utilizes strong engineering and process improvement methods to build and maintain sustainable systems, while working alongside all cross-functional teams in a commercial packaging facility as well as clinical site support. Leads technical projects, including Capital projects, and champions change in various aspects throughout the facility including, increased equipment uptime and throughput by improving reliability, and equipment condition, and establishing world-class repeatable setup practices to reduce waste and downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

Works under minimal supervision to deliver objectives.Provides onsite technical support primarily at a Mississauga pharmaceutical packaging facility and on occasion a Burlington clinical pharmaceutical site.Leads and supports projects execution of various sizes and complexity from start to completion, in areas including, but not limited to Maintenance, movement of assets, Health and Safety, and Operation projects. Including Capital Projects.Applies sound engineering principles to improve existing equipment, new equipment, and processes by reducing waste, increasing throughput, reducing energy consumption, or eliminating human interaction through automation.Supports equipment reliability optimization by analyzing systems, processes, and procedures to identify potential equipment failure modes. Meets with management, supervisors, and external resources to discuss Preventative and Corrective actions for Medium and High-Risk failure modes identified through FMEA.Supports the centralizing of new and existing assets.Assists in the training of staff on best practices and FMEA findings.Partners with the Maintenance Technicians to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical problems and guides repairs.Able to use hand tools and may work hands-on with packaging equipment.Reads and understands packaging procedures.Directs the department’s technicians when assigned.Identifies and tackles Lean and continuous improvement opportunities.Supports scheduling of maintenance activities and reports on preventative maintenance, KPIs and repair tasks.Collects and analyzes data to assist with decision-making.Prepares flow diagrams for various processes and systems.Optimizes equipment-specific Preventative Maintenance Program (PM), working alongside the PM and Parts CoordinatorReview asset manuals and extract relevant information to support the Maintenance DepartmentSupports SOP, drawings, and documentation revisions and development, including those related to projects.Assists in the optimization of inventory systems (spare parts lists, change parts, inventory tracking system, storage system, policies and procedures)Sources orders parts and services when required.Utilizes the CMMS for various tasks.Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by PCI Pharma Services; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies their supervisor of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.Able to work on weekends and may adjust work hours when required.Adheres to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, and rules.Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Required:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university is a must, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial EngineeringMathematical and analytical skills needed to complete required documentation in a thorough and accurate mannerMechanical aptitude to troubleshoot technical and mechanical issues, hands-on when required.Understand industrial maintenance practices.Effective interpersonal skills to work in a team environment.Knowledge and understanding of GMP processes.Detail orientedAbility to work with minimal supervision.Proficient at reading, communicating, and working with programs such as MS Office 360 software (Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook), and AutoCAD Effective interpersonal skills to work in a team environment.Ability to follow and implement directions

Preferred:

Have the ability to read blueprints.Working towards a Professional Engineer status in OntarioFormal Lean Six-Sigma, RCA, and FMEA training/certificationKnow the basic principles of electronics and pneumatics.Previous Project Management experienceExperience in a Manufacturing settingManager Plus or Eptura CMMS experience
