Plant Engineer II

Technical resource for technical and equipment matters in the manufacturing environment providing direct support to the operations organization. The primary purpose of this position is to lead and facilitate process and asset related standardization, loss elimination, and risk management.

Project Support - Serves on capital project teams representing area of responsibility. In this role, works to ensure the reliability, operability, and maintainability of new and modified assets. Leads small and low complexity projects for area of responsibility. Cost Reduction - Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce cost. Ensures lessons learned and best practices are re-applied from other areas of the plant on the project. Project Team Accountabilities- responsible for equipment design, specification, procurement, installation, and start-up of production floor equipment. Works to ensure that equipment purchased for the project starts up successfully and performs reliably long term. Accountabilities will include new equipment integration, equipment FAT's, coordination with vendors and suppliers, and on-site start-up support. Participates in or leads the development of commissioning and qualification plans for new or modified assets. Problem Solving - Provides technical support to operations, maintenance, and leadership for problem solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues. Reliability - Reviews system failures and identifies or facilitates the identification of the failure root cause. In turn identifies engineering solutions or proactive steps to prevent recurrence of failures. Provides analysis and recommendations in regard to asset maintenance decisions (e.g. repair/replace, repair/re-design, make/buy, etc.) Improvement - Conducts overall system needs/loss analysis on an on-going basis for area of responsibility to help direct focus and allocation of resources. Through this, also identifies potential long-term improvements or capital investments that would reduce cost to the business. Capacity Optimization - Works to evaluate and optimize the overall manufacturing base. Identifies means to obtain more output out of existing assets at a lower unit cost. Standardization - Consistently uses company engineering standards and specifications. Supports standardization through development of new standards where needed and keeps existing standards accurate and up to date. For project specific work, develops detailed and accurate engineering documentation.
