Plant Health Phenom Scientist CE Assays

Plant Health Phenomics Scientist – Controlled Environmental (CE) Assays

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is for dedicated scientists to innovate within the Plant Health team by proposing novel approaches to generate data for germplasm improvement and product characterization for plant diseases in controlled environmental (CE) conditions. Collaborate to promote and validate prototypes of new phenotypic protocols designed for row crop diseases. Define optimal strategies for high-throughput (HTP) experimentation and developing robust protocols as a proxy for disease development in commercial fields. Identify opportunities and implement automation solutions to streamline data generation processes, particularly in high-throughput experimentation (HTP) and protocol validation based on epidemiological parameters associated to disease progress and its impact on yield. Generate data for key diseases using validated protocols for HTP.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop innovative methods and technologies to generate comprehensive data aimed at enhancing germplasm and characterizing products in relation to plant diseases in CE conditions;Partner to promote and validate prototypes of new phenotypic protocols specifically designed to rate diseases affecting row crops, to meet germplasm improvement and product characterization needs;Develop and standardize robust protocols that serve as reliable proxies for monitoring disease development and evaluating disease resistance in various crop species;Define and implement optimal strategies for high-throughput experimentation (HTP) tailored to efficiently gather data on disease progression and resistance in commercial agricultural settings;Develop automated workflows and integrate advanced technologies (e.g., image acquisition) to enhance efficiency and accuracy in data collection and analysis in partnership with related teams in Breeding;Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate findings into broader agricultural research initiatives in R&D and Crop Science teams;Communicate research findings through publications, presentations, and internal reports to contribute to scientific knowledge and inform decision-making processes;Maintain accurate records of production processes, outcomes, and variances; report on progress and challenges to stakeholders.
