Plant HR Manager, Kyoto
Job Description

Our manufacturing plant in Kyoto is looking for a dedicated and experienced Plant HR Manager. The position will be responsible for conducting operational HR work and improve HR strategic projects within applicable laws, collective agreements, and guidelines in our manufacturing facility in Kameoka Kyoto, Japan. Beyond the day-to-day operations, the role encompasses a crucial senior leader advisory function, providing strategic guidance and support to plant leadership in alignment with organizational goals. The position involves comprehensive HR support from hiring to exit, as well as handling collective labor law issues. Additionally, the Plant HR Leader plays a vital role in strategic initiatives, including succession planning, organizational design, Renewal employee regurations and development opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

• Establish a human resource plan that meets the requirements of the business plan in collaboration with the business managers to meet business targets.

• Drives results in the assigned team while fostering a safe work environment: While the Plant HR Manager is not explicitly leading the team, creating a positive work environment is essential in HR functions.

• Drive and execute hiring, personnel measures, transfers, exits, salary changes, classifications, reclassifications, etc., considering tariff, operational, and legal provisions in close collaboration with key stakeholders

• Partners with regional and global HR team and other organizations: The Plant HR Manager collaborates in HR projects and can be involved in regional and global HR initiatives, aligning with this responsibility.

• Implementation of the HR lifecycle: Annual participation and implementation of local appraisal processes, salary adjustment rounds, talent reviews, goal-setting processes.

• Provide senior leader advisory services, offering strategic HR guidance and support to plant leadership in alignment with organizational objectives.

• Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and maintaining current knowledge of new laws and legal trends affecting HR activities.

• Personnel development: Based on global standards and processes, build talent pipeline, participate in succession planning, set up individual development measures.

• Acts as the central point of contact for local union: Close collaboration with union leadership in discussing and handling collective issues, prepare works agreements in consultation with Japan Senior HR Manager.

• Project lead new local payroll and time attendance system.

Background & Skills

• Bachelor’s or master’s Degree.

• HR professional experience (min 7 years), with some years in manufacturing environment.

• Substantial Japanese labor law and C&B experience, including co-determination and experience in developing and negotiating works agreements.

• Knowledge of HR practices/policies.

• Highly developed communication and influencing skills

• Experience in working for an international company with a matrix organization structure.

• Experience in D&I project management as preferable.

• Fluent in Japanese and English.
