Plant HR Manager

Job Purpose

Plant Human Resources Managers are responsible for overseeing various HR functions within the plant, including recruitment and retention, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training, payroll, compensation, safety, and benefits. They recommend and administer HR policies and procedures, maintain and update employee records and various reports, and provide coaching to employees on work-related matters. This position necessitates a close working relationship with the Plant Manager and the Plant Leadership team, along with reporting responsibilities to the HQ HR Manager. The Plant HR Manager must also possess the ability to understand business issues and offer solutions that support the broader interests of the business.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The primary duties of a Plant HR Manager include:

Manages the recruitment, selection, and retention of plant employees, partnering with Plant Leadership to maintain staffing levels within budget.Acts as a liaison between management and employees, handling questions and assisting in resolving employee-related issues.Provides effective guidance and coaching to Plant Leadership on employee concerns, problems, and disciplinary actions to ensure compliance with company policies. Maintains or improves employee retention and recognition programs to ensure a motivated and engaged workforce.Ensures compliance with all established safety, health, quality GMP, and company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.Adheres to and enforces all other established policies, procedures, and recognized practices.Processes the plant's weekly payroll and administers the attendance policy.Maintains records and compiles reports on personnel-related data such as hires, turnover, employee programs, performance appraisals, wage progression, and absenteeism rates.Represents the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.Plans and coordinates new employee onboarding to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.Analyzes training needs to design employee and leadership training and development programs, including safety programs.Plans and organizes company events such as luncheons, picnics, community and recognition events.Serves as the Plant Safety Coordinator, managing all plant safety programs and training, and maintaining the first aid room.Coordinates with temporary labor agencies to schedule workers to meet daily production staffing requirements, process pay records, review and approve invoices, and address temporary worker issues as needed.May be responsible for special projects related to other functional areas and other related duties as assigned.

The Plant HR Manager plays a key role in implementing HR strategies and initiatives developed by Corporate HR.

Duties Reporting to Corporate HR Manager include:

Works closely with Corporate HR on projects and initiatives that affect the entire organization, contributing their plant-specific expertise. Provide feedback to Corporate HR Manager on effectiveness of HR programs and policies at the plant level, to help shape future initiatives.Communication: Serves as a liaison between the plant and Corporate HR, communication important HR updates, policies, and initiatives to the plant workforce.Compliance: Ensures the plant’s HR practices comply with applicable laws and regulations. Ensures and implements all company policies, benefits, practices, programs.Investigates and administers worker compensation claims, maintains records, and documentation, and collaborates with Corporate HR Manager on workers' compensation case management. Collaborate with Corporate EH&S on Osha reporting requirements.Escalates complex HR issues for guidance and support.Investigates and reports employee relations issues resulting in any reporting of discrimination, harassment, or policy violations resulting in terminations.Manages Voice of Employee Survey participation and delivery of results to plant with follow-up meetings with employees for action items to be identified.  Manages action items and engagement activities to ensure a positive Ring culture.Manages leaves of absences including FMLA, ADA, Disability, WC or other leavesOversee the performance management process for plant employees, conduct evaluations, providing feedback and implementing performance improvement plans.. Conducts collaboration sessions prior to mid year and year end reviews are given. Updates Managers on completion rates to ensure 100% completion.Data and Metrics:Collect and Reports out on Hiring/Staffing, Turnover, Attendance, ER related issues on PET HR Manager calls.Reports training completion rates and providing insights for broader analysis

Experience, Educational and Technical Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree and/or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. A minimum of 5 years Human Resources Manager experience in manufacturing preferred.Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.Computer usage and typing skills are essential.Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
