Provide building maintenance services in a professional manner by providing consistent quality services to ensure a clean, safe and environmentally sound operation of buildings for all students, employees and visitors to Normandale Community College. Operate and maintain campus heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and other mechanical and electrical systems to maximize efficiency and economy. Perform minor repairs to systems and equipment, including plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, pneumatic and other equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining the environmental climate of all campus buildings and spaces including temperature, ventilation and humidity in order to provide a healthy and comfortable environment. This position is part of the Facilities Emergency call list and will occasionally be expected to respond to related emergency situations.
This position reports to the Mechanical System Supervisor under limited supervision to perform assigned work instructions.
This position will actively advance the college's strategic goals, including achieving equity in educational outcomes and supporting a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Valid Boiler Engineer's License
+ Knowledge of but not limited to:
+ Boilers, engines, generators, pumps, compressors, heaters, dampers, motors and energy management systems
+ Reading blueprints and building schematics, pneumatics and DDC controls
+ Basic computer skills sufficient to utilize the work order system, email and various software programs and apps.
+ Ability to:
+ Move through buildings to monitor equipment
+ Operate or control small tools
+ Position self to access units and confined spaces
+ Ascend/descend to roofs, inside air handlers and other equipment areas in the college
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge, skill and experience maintaining and repairing boilers, engines, generators, pumps, compressors, heaters, dampers, motors and energy management systems
+ Knowledge and skill in electric and acetylene welding
+ Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
+ Intermediate computer and software skills to include Microsoft applications and Facilities Maintenance software
+ Four (4) years of Facilities, Physical Plant or Central Plant operation and maintenance experience, including general preventative maintenance
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks or projects effectively
+ Experience in operation of a Schneider Niagara N4 energy management systems
+ Experience in pneumatics and pneumatic and digital controls
+ Knowledge, skill and ability to:
+ Perform plumbing with installation, replacing and repairing water fountains, toilet bowls, wash bowls, faucets, water and sewer lines
+ Maintain, repair and adjust elevators, ventilating and refrigeration equipment, electrical appliances, sterilizers, dryers, steamers and similar equipment
