Description: **ABOUT THIS ROLE** The Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining plant equipment in a state of readiness. Performs the appropriate plant production equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Performs required plant equipment maintenance. Informs manager of conditions that could impact production. Prepares all required daily/weekly department operating reports. Holcim is currently recruiting for a full-time Plant Mechanic in the Baton Rouge Area. **WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING** • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. • Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager. • Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion. • Completes work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns. • Performs the appropriate plant equipment inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance for both fixed and mobile equipment. • Responsible for preparing and welding steel and aluminum structures, appendages and equipment. • Performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment including handling welding repairs. • Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to Area Manager. • Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment. • Assists personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. • Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. • Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns. • Performs repairs as required on plant processing equipment and performs maintenance on plant grounds as required. • Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety. **WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR** • High School diploma/GED • Minimum of two (2) years experience in mechanical repair, installation, and construction in heavy industry. • Working knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems as well as the use of all shop equipment such as welding and machining equipment. • Lock-Out,/Tag-Out experience • Welding experience. • Experience working in confined spaces. • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software **Additional Requirements:** • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
