Clariant is currently looking for a Plant Maintenance Tech to the Care Chemicals Business Unit. The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of complex mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, valves, actuators, and electrical control systems. This role also performs preventive maintenance (PM) on production and building equipment. This role will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborate with the Planner and Reliability Engineer, to ensure proper installation and repair procedures are followed to maintain plant operations effectively. This role requires working in an industrial environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazardous materials. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided, and compliance with safety protocols is mandatory. This position is a full time, onsite opportunity in Mt. Holly, NC. Responsibilities
• Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to open/close work orders, track spare parts, and perform related tasks
• Perform repairs and maintenance on production equipment, including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement of components as necessary
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, belts, gears, conveyors, pumps, valves, actuators, chemical/steam piping, and gearboxes
• Conduct condition-based monitoring (CBM) using ultrasound and thermography for rotating equipment, valves, steam traps, and other structures
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on mechanical and electrical systems according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Complete and submit all required documentation and reports in a timely manner
• Assist in determining correct installation and repair procedures for equipment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, including schematics, P&ID diagrams, and O&M manuals
• Communicate with suppliers to source special items when needed
• Supervise and verify work performed by contractors
• Provide effective communication and feedback to the maintenance supervisor and team members
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to critical breakdowns, including occasional overtime as production needs demand
• Work in compliance with safety requirements, including wearing a full-face respirator and chemical suit as needed
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• After-school engineering qualification from a trade school
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance craftsperson
• Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Familiarity with working at heights (with fall protection) and in confined spaces
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to follow SOPs
