Plant Manager

About Our Client: Our client offers a complete line of pipe supports and strut products that serve the plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection markets. 

Position Scope:

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the total operation of our manufacturing plant. This individual will be responsible for optimizing plant performance through effective management of day-to-day operations and development / implementation of strategies to increase plant capabilities and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Maintain, develop and introduce safety procedures for the building, machinery operation, processes etc. to ensure a safe working environment. Manage our Hamilton manufacturing facility including the office, building and property requirements, and plant operations. Ensure proper union and non-union staffing of the plant through recruitment, training, and team building, to meet and exceed operational expectations. Coordinate building and property maintenance and servicing, including providing analyses of capital spending and major equipment repair requirements. Oversee purchasing of all raw materials for production and plant operating supplies and services while building vendor relationships. Maintain and enhance the quality control program to improve product quality and reduce waste. Work closely with the Production Lead Hand to ensure daily production schedules are met to satisfy inventory requirements and customer commitments. Prepare and submit payroll information. Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing operations to reduce costs and increase profit margins. Work collaboratively on new product development and production implementation initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency. Establish the annual plant operating and capital budgets. As a leader and part of the company’s management team, actively participate in defining, implementing, and executing initiatives to meet corporate objectives.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent planning and prioritization, organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills. Negotiation skills are an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Education and Experience:

Experience relevant to automated manufacturing and/or automated metal stamping and fabrication. Post secondary degree in Manufacturing or related field. Experience managing a team in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with a Unionized workforce is an asset.
