The Plant Manager oversees the entirety of Howmet Niles Operations Department driving planning and performance, personnel, purchasing, finance, manufacturing, engineering, and quality. The Plant Manager directs, and controls activities of the operating unit to accomplish budgeted financial objectives and customer requirements. This includes the management of staffing, people, equipment, maintenance and supplies in the most efficient manner to meet company goals and objectives in areas of safety, environment, health, people, quality, delivery, and production, including accountability for 350-450 production and maintenance employees. The position is accountable to achieve established goals in safety, environment, health, people, quality, delivery and production. Additionally, this position is highly engaged in the various metal planning activities for raw material purchasing and consumption
Key job responsibilities are below:
Development and implementation of both long and short-term production and maintenance plans for assigned departments based upon Operations' goals and objectives. Present monthly progress reports to corporate leadership, the business unit management team, and employees showing performance against established Key Performance Indicators. Primary corporate interface. Prepare and conduct with executive management, a quarterly business review based on established key performance indicators, and as necessary implement, change and monitor business conditions to insure obtainment of minimum goals. Leads a clear channel of communication and coordination between functional counterparts in the business – marketing, engineering, finance, manufacturing, operations, and quality and external to business unit, customer service, sales, sales administration, technical services, and distribution. Monitoring performance of assigned production departments daily to assure that goals and objectives are being met. Develop and implement plans to close any gaps between established goals and objectives and actual performance. Long-term Department planning, including capital and expense budgets Responsible for crewing in assigned production departments. Provide appropriate training and guidance to individuals for their development and career growth. Establish and execute short- and long-term plans to support and improve the departmental OEE, productivity, and capacity targets. Provide leadership in reducing unplanned downtimes for manufacturing equipment, as well as improving the utilization and duration of planned maintenance. Ensure adherence to all site maintenance systems and full integration of maintenance planning activities within departmental production plans. Integrate with the site Reliability and Predictive Maintenance functions to ensure the best possible equipment reliability. Ensure the environmental management systems are suitable to the needs of the business and are effective and efficient enough to ensure our products are produced with minimal environmental impact. Execute the health and safety strategy for the location and department, ensuring that proactive measures are taken to reduce injuries and eliminate hazards. This includes maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor, demonstrating a personal commitment to the safety of employees, contractors and visitors. Build and facilitate the development of strong relationships and synergies with all stakeholders of the company, including employees, key customers, suppliers and technical partners and corporate to achieve the business unit goals and objectives.
