**Job Title: Plant Operator**
**Job Description**
This is a temporary role for someone who is covering for an employee on leave, with the potential to become a long-term position. The primary responsibility is operating the plant, spending 80-90% of the day at a computer using the SCADA system (training provided) to fill trucks with organic fertilizer. The role requires comfort with heights, loud noises, and strong smells.
**Responsibilities**
+ Comply with all regulations to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations.
+ Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance on all plant equipment under the direction of the Plant Manager, including welding, piping, and refurbishing equipment.
+ Identify, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical malfunctions, documenting and reporting issues and resolutions to the Plant Manager.
+ Monitor and control plant operations in accordance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
+ Maintain records of plant operations, including hourly operating data and abnormal operating conditions, ensuring permit compliance and high-quality product production.
+ Perform fire guard duty and confined space watch.
+ Participate in and complete training programs within the allotted time frame.
+ Perform general work assignments to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility, including sweeping, shoveling, and other housekeeping activities.
+ Maintain and securely store work tools after use.
+ Demonstrate safe behaviors at all times and perform duties in a safe manner.
**Essential Skills**

+ Forklift operation
+ Hand tools proficiency
+ Industrial production experience
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Ability to weld, fit pipe, refurbish equipment, and align rotating equipment
+ Ability to wire and unwire motors and perform zero energy checks with a multimeter
+ Recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards, and respond appropriately
+ Operate powered equipment and tools safely and efficiently both on the ground and at heights
+ Thorough knowledge of plant fire protection apparatus and systems, and ability to operate all fire protection equipment
+ Willingness to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, on-call duty, and emergency call-ins
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Computer literacy

**Work Environment**
Shift: Thursday-Sunday 4:45 PM - 5:15 AM, rotating every week to Friday-Sunday. The role involves working inside and outside at a fertilizer pelletizing plant. Be prepared for a non-traditional schedule and the physical demands of the job.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Elk Grove, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00
