Job Description

Pay Rate: $24.61 per hour.

Position Purpose: 

The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring the production and water quality by making process control (SCADA) changes while conducting operational and field inspection duties related to water production facilities and equipment.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

Optimizes day-to-day plant operations including operability and plant process control (SCADA).Monitor water production operations, storage and treatment systems including booster pumps, storage tanks, emergency interconnections stations and related facilities, and chemical application equipment.Monitor and adjust the chemical dose established by the production leader or Operations management to ensure safe, potable water is produced at all times.Perform chemical inventory at the facility (treatment plant).Investigate complaints regarding water quality and system pressure and notify on-call personnel.Perform water quality related duties such as backwashing of filters; backwashing of GAC units; and adjusting and filling the fluoride system.Recommend solutions to operational and technical problems.Adhere to all regulatory requirements (sampling, water quality monitoring and reporting, operator certification, audits, inspections …)Maintain/Update all reporting databases for Production Department.Monitor all plant system equipment and communicates with on call personnel of any issues.Follow standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure compliance.Conduct safety monitoring at the facility (treatment plant).Prepare reports as required by United Water.Monitor the security system and entrance gate to ensure security of facility.Participate in continuous improvement program.Participate on cross-functional teams.Perform distribution related activities as required.Comply with all organization safety procedures.Safety and housekeeping.Perform other projects/tasks/duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

High School Diploma/GED is required.2 years of related experience in water treatment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

Must possess both the skills and physical ability to perform routine maintenance procedures for pumps, motors and control equipment.General knowledge of water treatment and mechanical maintenance.Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology and mathematics.Mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills are required.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with people at all levels, both internally and externally.Proficiency with Google Workspace or other company designated applications.Ability to learn to operate specialized computer systems and equipment relative to water monitoring and control (SCADA).

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

Ability to obtain the NJ DEP Water T-1, within two years of employment.Valid Driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

Must have physical strength to move and carry fifty (50) pound bags of chemicals.
