Plant Superintendent -- Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. - Erwin, TN
Summary Description:
Responsibility for all plant activities on assigned shift, within established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Responsible for providing management representation and emergency response leadership for NFS facilities 24/7. This position also serves as the NFS Operations Center Duty Officer and is responsible for all plant activities on the assigned shift, within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Establish priorities for resource utilization during all abnormal occurrences during assigned shift (i.e. Production, Health & Safety, Maintenance, Yard, Laboratory, etc.). Approved and/or direct process or facility shutdowns as needed to assure personnel safety, regulatory compliance, and/or to protect plant facilities. Act as Emergency Control Director during all emergencies until relieved by the designated alternate. Serves as the NFS Operations Center Duty Officer. Review plant operations and inspect plant facilities to assure that resources are properly and effectively utilized. Consult with and provide counsel and direction to on-shift supervisors (Production, Laboratory, Maintenance, Health & Safety, and Security Operations Supervisors) and other personnel as needed to assure that all facilities are operated in accordance with approved procedures. Assist Human Resources in the administration of company personnel policies, procedures, and labor contract requirements during their assigned shift. Direct Production, Health & Safety, Yard, Maintenance, Laboratory, and other personnel, when regular management is not assigned to assure assignments are accomplished per the Plan of the Day. Perform incident investigations, fact findings, and other duties as directed by senior management. Advise senior management of any unusual processing event which may have SNM control implications. Have working knowledge of Material Control and Accountability Program. Perform Work Control group functions as assigned including verification of proper work package completion, pre-job brief, UPS management over-sight, and other Work Area Administrator duties. Provide initial assessment and pre-screening of PIRCS Problems (Problem Identification Resolution and Corrective Action System). Communicate with, and if necessary, make reports to NFS regulators. Provide event notifications to senior management as outlined in NFS-OPS-001. Implement procedures or policies to account for inclement weather and its impact to the plant and personnel. Assist with Fitness for Duty Program.
Education:
B. S. -- Technical discipline preferred OR 8 years of experience in the nuclear industry may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience Requirements:
Nine to ten years' experience with B. S. degree OR in lieu of B. S. degree 17 years of experience in the nuclear industry with five years' experience (of the required 17 years) at the NFS site. Preferred five years in a supervisory or senior technical position within the nuclear industry.
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee at the start of employment is expected to be between $112,000 and $177,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
