Plasma Equipment Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Help drive a safe and high-quality equipment team. Maintain effective communications between EES, process engineering, quality, test and manufacturing to ensure optimal tool availability. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance. Develop new concepts of maintenance to eliminate or reduce major equipment failures and extended downtime. Identify and correct and chronic problem areas, using both on-site and off-site equipment expertise. Coordinate maintenance activities with EES manager and EES technicians. Provide necessary data for decision making and work with equipment suppliers to improve tool capabilities. Maintain a high level of expertise within the group by assisting in the training and development of EES technicians. Provide technical expertise and support of new equipment selection and tool sign off. Direct and manage the installation of new equipment. Develop, edit and maintain PM documents. Drive equipment issues to root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions. Assist EES technicians with PM's and repair as needed. Participate in 5Y and 8D analysis as needed.

Education & Experience

Minimum 10 yr. experience. AA/AS or equivalent degree. Preferred experience with PECVD, Plasma etch, PVD, and E-Beam tools.

Skills

Must understand and have the ability to troubleshoot RF systems. Must possess basic vacuum knowledge of systems and components with the ability to troubleshoot all components within. Must be able to use a helium leak detector and RGA. Problem solving; able to troubleshoot to root cause and analyze collected data for continuous improvement. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must be self-motivated and able to organize daily work responsibilities with minimal management. Strong communication skills. Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.  Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

Must be able to…  Work in a Class 100/1000 clean room. Wear full clean room attire. Work with and/or around chemicals such as acids and solids. Work with and/or around gases, both hazardous and non-hazardous.  Ability to work a flexible work schedule and support a 24/7 operation.
