Central Maine Healthcare is seeking an Aesthetician to join our team at the Plastic Surgery office!
This is a Part Time, benefits eligible position
Position Summary:
Provides services to enhance the esthetic appearance of the client and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in the medical office setting as assigned. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the practice. Provides care that reflects initiative, safety, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision.
Education and Experience:
+ High School Graduate
+ Current licensure in Aesthetics from Maine State Board of Barbers and Cosmetology. Trained in medical skin care product lines.
+ Laser certification required.
Essential Duties:
+ Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the physician, as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
+ Performs consultations to evaluate the client’s skin problem, discusses appropriate treatment and recommends products like laser treatments, chemical peels, lotions, cleansers, or creams that enhance the skin quality, under the supervision of the physician.
+ Performs office procedures to include micropeels, chemical peels, and laser procedures for spider veins, hair removal, rosacea and skin spots under the supervision of the physician.
+ Uses the skin care process (assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation) in providing skin care needs to the patients/clinic population served.
+ Communicates with the providers about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies.
+ Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Safely and properly operates equipment, including laser.
+ Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform office procedures as ordered.
+ Maintains ability to assess patient pain interfering with procedure. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.
+ Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, supplies and equipment for each individual procedure. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after last patient; restocks supplies.
+ Maintains accurate and continued documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, and responses.
+ Documents return visits, referrals and scheduling of all procedures according to policy.
+ Along with manager, meets with vendors on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge of product changes and developments.
+ Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers. Interacts professionally with patient and family.
+ Assists with product ordering and maintenance of par levels.
+ Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
+ Follows established CMMC policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
+ Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients, families and staff in accordance with practice standards.
+ Respects patient’s confidentiality and right to privacy.
+ Routinely inventories all patient exam spaces for adequacy of supplies available for patient care. In coordination with the department’s Supply Officer, track orders to ensure sufficient supplies are on hand.
+ Communicates with and provides counsel to patient families to alleviate concerns and explain medical procedures, treatment alternatives, and patient outcomes in layman’s terminology.
+ Performs inspection of instruments, materials, and equipment to insure they are clean and in proper working condition.
+ Maintains infection control standards for exam/procedure rooms, cleans, disinfects, etc.
+ Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
+ Maintains confidentiality of information at all times.
