The Plate 'B' coats parts and/or raw material both ferrous and non-ferrous, with various chemical solutions as required to maintain specified tolerances.
DESCRIPTION OF
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
With moderate
supervision and review performs the following:
Equipment/Process Responsibilities - Performs duties where property, tools, equipment or machines may suffer substantial damage or man-hours be lost, through improper daily maintenance or lack of considerable care and attention to processing. Sets-up and operates all plating equipment and maintains complex solution mixes.
Material or Product Responsibilities - Performs duties that require close attention to work and supporting documentation specifications and other requirements. Responsible for accuracy of plated material or parts released for use in production. Uses knowledge of plating procedures and methods to assure highest quality and degree of accuracy.
Responsibility for Work of Others - Accuracy of communications is mandatory to the successful plating of materials and parts. Must communicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regarding quality of work received or time flow of work in progress as it affects production schedules. Must be able to train employees of equal or lower classifications in plating methods, operations and procedures as required in the cell. Works with all levels of non-exempt employees, leadpersons, facilitators and supervisors throughout the shop.
Safety Responsibilities - Within general work
area and for the safety of self and co-workers in major portion of the shop,
good housekeeping is required. Knowledge of chemical safety and adherence to Company
safety rules is mandatory.
Initiative and Ingenuity - Requires some
initiative in identifying complex problems related to the plating requirements
of various metals. Uses ingenuity in devising procedures to assure best efficiency
of work flow. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are
completed. Performs other work related tasks as deemed necessary by Company needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental Surroundings - Work is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature of the job, etc. are less desirable than in a typical office environment.
Unavoidable Hazards - Possible hazards related to cuts,
bruises, finger and hand injuries, muscle strains, burns, chemical exposure,
noxious fumes, and nasal and eye irritation. Protective equipment and clothing appropriate
to the task at hand is
required.
EFFORT
Physical - Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires hand and finger manipulation to use precision measuring instruments. Able to use all tools required for plating in the cell. Some job assignments require maneuvering to different areas of the cell and most assignments necessitate continuous standing for the majority of the workday.
Mental - Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous. However, plating assignments are varied according to the parts and materials involved. Some initiative is required in assuring proper solutions mix and ingenuity is needed to maintain critical timing of several job assignments concurrently. Reasoning ability required to interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications of a complex nature and draw conclusions from a variety of concrete variables. Able to organize workflow under moderate supervision or review.
Visual - Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration. Able to read all precision measuring instruments in the cell as required by essential job functions. Must be able to visually check parts for quality. Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, distance vision and depth perception
