JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
The platform engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining on-premise software delivery systems. They will be required to collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and to propose scalable and efficient architectures. Other responsibilities will include providing technical guidance and support to development teams, maintaining the cluster infrastructure, optimizing nodes for reliability and performance, ensuring high availability, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues. The platform engineer will be responsible for implementing automation and monitoring tools for deployment and maintenance. They will be responsible for researching emerging technologies to build into the platform to ensure optimal performance as well as their potential impact.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A successful platform engineer candidate will have at least 5 years of direct experience working with Kubernetes and container orchestration, infrastructure as code, virtualization environments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, system administration, networking and have strong collaboration and communication skills.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
One of the following educational requirements must be met for this position:
A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of eight years of related experience A master's degree in an associated discipline and a minimum of six years of experience A PhD in an associated discipline and a minimum of four years of experienceIn addition, a Computer Scientist IV must possess the following qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise with computer-based systems and applications Excellent programming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasks Experience in the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and software development lifecycles Effective oral and written communication skills Good planning/organizational skills Ability to work under deadlines.SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $170,000 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
