Boeing Commercial Airlines is excited to offer opportunities for a Plating Tank Operator to join our Fabrication team in Portland, Oregon.

As a Plating Tank Operator, you will be at the forefront of our manufacturing process, playing a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. Your expertise will be essential in managing the intricate plating operations, where you will prepare components, monitor chemical solutions, and apply precise plating techniques. With a keen eye for detail, you will conduct thorough inspections to guarantee that each part adheres to stringent specifications. Position Responsibilities:

Check and screen baking records and work orders (W/O) to ensure prior operations are completed and parts match specifications.

Obtain and prioritize work from incoming areas based on urgency and FIFO (first in, first out) principles.

Review W/O and drawings for current revision levels, stress relief status, and determine necessary tankline processes.

Use precision measuring equipment to verify pre-plate dimensions and check parts for cleanliness and proper surface preparation.

Select appropriate processing recipes and determine where to apply masking tape, plugs, and other protective products for plating preparation.

Gather necessary equipment and supplies for proper loading and securing of parts in plating tanks.

Perform cadmium plating operations, ensuring correct loading techniques for uniform plating and conductivity.

Test plated parts for adherence, thickness, quality, surface coverage, and specified buildup.

Lift parts into and out of plating tanks, applying correct amperage and ensuring even plating through rinsing and measuring.

Unrack and check dimensions of plated parts, removing protective materials and screening W/O for baking requirements.

Load parts into the oven, set temperature and time, and log all pertinent information, including calculated areas of parts/racks for future reference.

Maintain personal and equipment certifications.

After all processes are completed, protective wrap parts and send them to the next operation.

Lead and mentor lower classified employees, sharing relevant information and guidance.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 lbs.

Experience setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on a production plating line

Experience inorganic coating, plating and corrosion

Experience in chemical coatings/galvanic and/or a plating environment

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $25.00 - $49.92/hour
