Play Policy Specialist, Legal Content Policy and Standards

Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 2 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust & Safety, or technology environment.
+ Experience with data analysis, data tools (i.e., SQL), operations, or trend identification.
Preferred qualifications:
+ MBA, or Master’s degree.
+ Knowledge of the geo-political landscape and current events affecting online app stores like Google Play and Chrome Web Store.
+ Knowledge of the technology sector, its trends, and key policy issues affecting the internet (e.g., intellectual property, free expression, online safety).
+ Familiarity with Google Play and Chrome Product Areas.
+ Proven project management and communication skills, especially with cross-functional partners.
+ Enthusiastic problem solver with a track record of executing high-level analysis to drive strategic development.
Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. As a Google Play Policy Specialist, you’ll be a thought leader on Google Play related content moderation issues and create policies that balance compliance with local law, user expression, and public interest. You’ll manage removal requests from government stakeholders, users, and rightsholders, while building expertise in the areas of privacy, defamation, intellectual property rights, hate speech, and more. You’ll manage content operations to ensure timeliness and quality, and collaborate with stakeholders including but not limited to product engineers, public policy, product policy, legal, and enforcement teams who all work together on policy issues affecting Google and its users. Working with these cross-functional stakeholders, you’ll develop policies and processes for new content moderation regulations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$150,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Be a thought leader for legal removals issues by identifying and analyzing content moderation trends and key policy issues affecting the Google Play Store and Chrome Web Store. Ensure effective enforcement capabilities, including new feature launches, and lead discussions with cross-functional stakeholders on emerging regulations and its implications on legal removals landscape.
+ Manage content operations and drive escalations of sensitive government requests. Balance various legal considerations in order to effectively resolve issues.
+ Develop and launch scalable policies and guidelines for handling large volumes of requests, based on different product trends and legal issues (data protection, copyright, defamation, etc.).
+ This role will be exposed to graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting content.
