PURPOSE:
To support production by delivering, maintaining and improving equipment and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze equipment downtime/efficiency/issues to determine improvement opportunities and then implement programming changes to existing equipment. Modify programming to existing equipment for product design changes. Review electrical component technologies/suppliers for equipment specifications and sourcing decisions. Research new technologies and investigate incorporating into new or existing equipment. Evaluate feasibility of integrating new products/technologies into existing equipment. Analyze and implement the programming requirements for different processes on Automation and manual production lines. Propose and implement ideas to improve and standardize programming methodology of new and existing equipment. Work with maintenance technicians to understand project requirements/troubleshoot equipment issues. Maintain programming documentation and adhere to company software backup strategy. Program modifications on current vision systems for new products or new inspection features. Participates actively in the requirement to retain ISO9001, IATF16949 certification. Responsible for knowing and upholding the H&S Policy and for working in a safe manner and reporting all unsafe or unhealthy conditions or acts. Completes any other assignments, duties and projects that may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years programming experience Preferably completed a BS in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics or a Diploma for Industrial Automation at a recognized university/college or equivalent experience Able to read and modify electrical drawings Able to program and troubleshoot equipment that use PLCs, HMIs, Robots and other devices. Able to work with Omron CX-One. Ability to work with Sysmac Studio and Beckhoff TwinCat is an asset. Able to work with and develop HMI applications. Able to interface PLC commands with external devices such as robots, vision systems and databases. Proficiency with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCat, Ethernet/IP, Serial, DeviceNet etc. Knowledge of Servo motors and interfacing PLC commands to servos. Ability to work with Cognex, Omron and Keyence vision systems is an asset. Able to work with and develop robotic applications, preferably Motoman, is an asset.
