Purpose Statement

The PLC Controls Technician maintains equipment to all specifications relating to electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and troubleshooting in a team operation.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes Oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modification on production equipment. Designs, implements and tests for proper operation the control system software and hardware for a wide variety of PLC (programmable logic controllers), HMI (human machine interfaces), Process Instrumentation and Servo Systems. Throughout control system software/hardware implementation or modification, ensure the safety of operators, maintenance and support personnel working in proximity to automated equipment. Organize control system software/hardware implementation or modifications to minimize the impact on production. Provide the Engineering or Maintenance Team with support in the implementation of production line modifications. Provide the Maintenance Team with support in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment or instrumentation operating under the control of an automated system. Installation of conduit, pull wire and terminate. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent coupled with formal technical education in a trade school setting. Eight years of experience is required in a mechanical setting relating to the food processing, chemical or the pharmaceutical industry Must pass aseptic certification course. Must be able to pass a position specific “basic” skills test. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of schematics, PLC’s, process & instrumentation drawings. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and fluid power systems. Must be able to function in a team environment. Must pass a basic computer skills test Must pass equipment manufacturer review of demonstrated aptitude
