UPMC Mercy is hiring a Full-Time Plumber to support our facility!
This position will work during the evenings from 2pm-10pm.
Purpose:
To perform all work related to plumbing within the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Install, Repair, and Maintain various types of plumbing systems campus wide. Including but not limited to: Potable Water: Fixture repair on Faucets, toilets, sink drains, shower valves, tub drains, etc. Maintain instantaneous commercial domestic hot water steam systems. Repair domestic cold and hot water lines up to 8 inch in size of various materials such as copper, pex, galvanized steel, etc Connect water systems by way of flanges, Victaulic fittings, solder, pro-press, uponor tool, and all other practices accepted by the I.P.C. Troubleshoot leaks & cross connections. Research & map valve locations for expeditious repair. Diagnose & rebuild all sizes, brands, styles, of backflow preventers. Plumbing waste lines: Repair, install & maintain all manner of drain lines, in accordance to IPC standards. Unclog obstructions, operating various styles of equipment such as toilet augers, hand snakes, drum snakes, and walk behind snakes. Service & Repair grease traps Fire systems: Be familiar with fire systems throughout the campus wet, dry , pre-action , and gas. Learn & memorize the location of flow & tamper switches throughout the facility Eyewash systems: Be able to test and repair all styles and brands of eyewash systems throughout campus. Medical gas: Repair various styles and brands of medical gas outlets throughout campus. I.C.R.A: Be familiar with all hospital protocols for all types of work and what area you are working in. Be able to build containment and set up a room for construction per U.P.M.C. standards. Estimate material requirements and prepares requisitions. Prepare daily and monthly time sheets and various other written reports as requested. Responsible for clean-up and removal of plumber’s supplies and equipment from work area. Must be able to, at times, rotate all shifts, weekends and holiday work schedules to facilitate hospital operations. Required to carry an assigned work phone to be contacted, receive work orders and to close out work orders received. Must possess the ability and knowledge to operate and maintain power equipment/tools, both stationary and portable, pertaining to the maintenance field. Must be familiar with Allegheny County plumbing codes. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed. Must be able to move 50lbs. Must possess the ability to move throughout the facility’s various buildings, roofs, tunnels, and confined spaces. Must be able to perform all forms of appropriate maintenance work or repairs on various forms of ladders, scaffolds, man-lifts, and safety equipment to complete work assignments at extreme heights.
