Plumber
The **Plumber** will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position performs a variety of plumbing trade functions such as the installation, maintenance or repair of equipment such as water heaters, showers, toilets, urinals and sinks, water, sewage and irrigation pipe installations and water tank installations. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing plumbing requirements on small construction, remodeling or renovation projects. This is a technical position based in Iraq. The Plumber will report to the LCC Project Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. **DUTIES:** + Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. + Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. + Provide a full range of plumbing services to the embassy and all satellite sites under the direction of the LCC Project Manager including installation and repair of pipes, fittings, fixtures and drainage systems. + Prepares all work permits and safety documentation for assigned projects. + Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. + Inspect structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening the structure resulting from pipe installation. + Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. + Perform structure inspections to ascertain obstructions to avoid preventing weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. + Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob. + Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools. + Cut and thread pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. + Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand. + Assemble and install valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools. + Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and calks joints. + Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. + Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. + Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. + Perform additional duties and projects as assigned. **REQUIRED:** + **Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:** + Ten (10) years’ experience as a Journeyman level plumber. + **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. + Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective. + Excellent organizational and time management skills. + Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel. + Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. + Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. + Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. + **Education/Certification:** A high school diploma or GED and a Plumbers License or Certification from a credible and verifiable source. + **Passport, Licenses and Certifications:** + Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record. + As part of pre-contingency requirements, **at the time of applying** , candidates must possess a valid passport of home country (or have started the process of obtaining one) with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages. + **Security Vetting:** Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or be able to obtain a favorable US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract. + **Language Skills:** Professional, oral and written English communication skills. + **Citizenship:** Must be eligible for US Government Clearance. + **Medical:** Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment. **DESIRED:** + Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus. + Experience working with Amentum. **OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:** + Experience providing customer services. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. + Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective. + Excellent organizational and time management skills. + Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel. + Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. + Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. + Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. **WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:** This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
